Dr. Herschel Beker Retires After 30 Years of Service

Christopher Blanchard to Begin Practicing at Resurgens Orthopaedics' Roswell

Dr. Herschel Beker, a founding member of Resurgens Orthopaedics, is retiring from practicing medicine after 30 years on Dec. 31. Dr. Beker, a Board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon and Resurgens Orthopaedics Board member, has provided expert orthopaedic care to patients in Roswell and Alpharetta since the practice was founded more than 30 years ago. Dr. Beker is also one of the founding members of the Resurgens Spine Center, which began in 1999. He is a dedicated member of the community, having served as team physician for Roswell High School for more than 20 years.

Dr. Christopher Blanchard, an
orthopaedic spine surgeon who currently practices in Resurgens Orthopaedics'
Cumming office, will join the Roswell location on Jan. 4 and divide his time between the Cumming and Roswell offices.
Dr. Blanchard is a Board-certified surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive,
reconstructive and robotic-assisted spine surgery. He was the lead designer on a breakthrough
interbody fusion device which received FDA clearance last year.
"Dr. Blanchard is a highly-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon who is well-respected by his peers and patients" said Bateman. "Our patients in Roswell will be in very good hands."
Dr. Beker, a Board-certified orthopaedic spine surgeon, received his medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He completed his orthopaedics residency and spine fellowship at Emory as well. He holds a Master's Degree in Healthcare
Delivery Science from Dartmouth University. Dr. Beker is a Resurgens
Orthopaedics Board member and a founding member of the practice. His associations include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, Medical Association of Georgia, Georgia Orthopaedic Society and the Atlanta Orthopaedic Society, among many others. He donated his time as Team Physician for Roswell High School for more than 20 years.
Dr. Blanchard, a Board-certified orthopaedic spine surgeon, received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee, Georgia, followed by residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and a Spine Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. His areas of expertise include minimally invasive spine surgery, reconstructive spine surgery, cervical and lumbar spine surgery and artificial disc replacement and robotic-assisted spine surgery. He was the lead designer on a new interbody fusion device called the Tiger Shark 3, which recently received FDA clearance for use in spinal surgeries.
