Surgical Procedures

Hip Arthroscopy

Hip arthroscopy is an outpatient procedure that involves examination of the inside of a hip joint. A surgeon uses miniature instruments and a small camera (called an arthroscope) to see inside the joint. It is a minimally-invasive procedure.

Revision Hip Surgery

Revision hip surgery replaces worn artificial hip parts and damaged bone with new metal, plastic, or ceramic components in order to help restore normal joint stability.

Surgical Dislocation/Debridement for FAI

Surgical dislocation/debridement for FAI is used to remove excess bone growth (known as femoroacetabular impingement, or FAI) and shape the hip joint.

Total Hip Replacement

Total hip replacement involves replacing the damaged hip with implants that recreate the ball and socket of a healthy hip. The procedure can reduce pain and restore hip function. Total hip replacement may be necessary if you have osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, post-traumatic arthritis, avascular necrosis, or childhood hip disease, among other conditions.

Total Hip Replacement, Anterior Approach

Total hip replacement, anterior approach is similar to a total hip replacement. However with this procedure, surgeons use an incision on the anterolateral (front and side) parts of the hip, instead of the traditional incision on the side or back of the joint. The anterior position lets the surgeon work between the muscles of the hip - instead of detaching them from the hip or femur - and this approach can help minimize recovery time.

Total Hip Resurfacing

Total hip resurfacing replaces diseased and damaged portions of the hip with restorative implants. Damaged bone and cartilage within the socket is removed and replaced with a metal shell.

Dedicated hip therapy is an outpatient method of physical therapy. Patients who undergo dedicated hip therapy work with our physicians to determine a unique plan. This helps each patient to achieve a high level of function and pain relief for their condition.

Fluoroscopic Guided Hip Injection

Fluoroscopic guided hip injection is an outpatient procedure designed to provide relief for patients with arthritis of the hip joint. These injections allow for maximum accuracy with numbing and anti-inflammatory medications.
